MAKARSKA

Makarska is a small city on the Adriatic coastline of Croatia. It is a tourist centre, located on a horseshoe shaped bay between the Biokovo mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The whole surrounding region is known as Makarska Riviera, with Makarska being in the centre. The center of Makarska is an old town with narrow stone-paved streets, just like most of the old towns in Croatia.

1. EXTREME SPORTS ARE VERY POPULAR

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in sports such as climbing, trekking, caving, paragliding, windsurfing, diving etc.

2. CYCLING, AS WELL

Makarska Riviera has many cycling routes. Biokovo tour is the ascent to the highest top of the Biokovo Mountain, 1762m above sea level. To reach the top, you need three hours on average. You can also take the Brela tour, Makarska tour, Drvenik – Gradac tour, Tučepi – Podgora and Igrane – Živogošće tour.

3. NIGHTLIFE

You don’t have to waste your time to find a good place for partying in Makarska. The entire nightlife offer is clustered in one street in the heart of the town.

4. SLINGSHOT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

During summertime, Makarska hosts a Slingshot World Championship. All slingshots are homemade and the goal is to hit the small target.

5. THE SHELLFISH MUSEUM

In the museum you can find shellfish from all over the world. The archeological collection has items dating back up to 2.000 years B.C.

6. THE RIDGE

Are you a fan of Game of Thrones? This picturesque location was the setting of several scenes from season four, episode one.
