The story

All journeys begin with the all important first step. Sometimes that step is a planned and calculated move and sometimes it comes out of the blue. The first step for Mr. Anderson came straight from the heart. Whilst travelling around the region on a humanitarian cause Mr. Anderson literally came across the site of today’s Villa Katarina and Winery Korta Katarina, it was love at first sight.
The Andersons’ have combined their passion for wine and their newfound love for Croatia to create the leading bespoke heaven Katarina Winery and Villa in Pelješac Peninsula – South Dalmatia.

Rising proudly above the Adriatic coastline Villa Katarina is located in the picturesque seaside town of Orebić on the delightful Pelješac Peninsula. With panoramic views over the glinting sea, the nearby islands and the breath-taking nature Villa Katarina is not only in a blessed position, but it is also strongly connected with its surroundings.

Orebić has a long and rich history with all things maritime. Over the centuries this relatively small city has been home to numerous sea captains. And after sailing the high seas these captains constructed their mansions and villas throughout the town. Villa Katarina is part of this naval history and an extensive renovation has brought a new shine to this elegant property.

Just across the channel, on your horizon, is the ancient walled city of Korčula – a stone city oozing with stories that need to be explored. Discover the legend of the explorer Marco Polo and his connection with Korčula and Venice. From 15th century monasteries to baroque facades and charming boutiques and chic eateries – let the cobbled streets be your guide as you step back in time.

Villa Katarina is ideally located for discovering the abundant historical and natural beauties that the south of Croatia has to offer. And you wouldn’t have to look far for the first.

The family purchased the well-known “Rivijera” hotel on the shore of the Adriatic coast and after almost a decade of planning, architectural design and construction Villa Katarina opened its doors to the first guests in September 2018. A very secluded and exclusive property designed with great attention to detail Villa Katarina completes their investment in this part of Croatia.

The Andersons’ are Original Trustees of the Naples Winter Wine Festival in Naples, Florida and have taken this dedication for wine to a new level in Croatia. The Katarina Winery is a magnet for wine lovers from all over the world and has rapidly stamped its mark on the global wine scene. Combining the very best of Dalmatian hospitality with high-end modern room amenities and lavish interior decor, as well as a careful selection of local and international dishes Hotel Villa Katarina offers a unique experience that our guest will cherish for a lifetime
